Universal Yarn Deluxe Worsted, 100% wool (200m per 100g)

1 x 100g ball in Marigold (3608)

1 set of 4mm double-pointed needles (dpns)

Stitch markers

Scrap yarn

TENSION

22 sts and 40 rounds to 10cm (4in) over Chart patt on 4mm needles.

Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension.

ABBREVIATIONS

2-st RC = Sl next st to cn and hold at back of work, k1, k1 from cn.

2-st LC = Sl next st to cn and hold at front of work, k1, k1 from cn.

LEFT MITT

Cuff

Using 4mm needles, cast on 36[42] sts. Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist sts, and place marker (pm) for beg of rnd.

Begin Chart

Round 1: Work 6-st rep 6[7] times around.

Cont to foil Chart as set until round 16 is complete.

Shape gusset

Cont in Chart patt as set, working all gusset sts between markers in g-st. *

Next round: M1, pm, work to end of round (37[43] sts). Work 1 round.

Next (inc) round: Kfb, sl marker, work to end of round (38[44] sts). Work 1 round.

Next (inc) round: Kfb, k to marker, sl marker, work to end of round (39[45] sts).

**Rep last inc round every alt round 9[11] times more (48[56] sts).

Work straight until Round 16 is complete.

Hand

Place 12[14] gusset sts on scrap yarn for thumb. Work Rounds 1 to l6 once more. Work should measure approx 20.5cm (8in) from beg.

Cast off loosely in patt.

Thumb

Pick up and knit 1 st along thumb opening, place 12[14] thumb sts on dpns, pick up and knit 1 st along thumb opening, pm for beg of round (14[16] sts).

Next (dec) round: K2tog, knit to last 2 sts, k2tog (12[14] sts).

Beg with a purl round, work 8 rounds in g-st. Cast off loosely purlwise.

RIGHT MITT

Work as for left mitt to *.

Next round: Work to end of round, pm, M1 (37[43] sts). Work 1 round.

Next (inc) round: Work to marker, sl marker, kfb (38[44] sts). Work 1 round.

Next (inc) round: Work to marker, sl marker, kfb, work to end of round (39[45] sts).

Complete as for left mitt from ** to end.
