SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS

R-inc (Right-leaning lifted increase) - Insert RH needle tip into st below first st on LH needle, place st on LH needle, and knit it (without twisting it).

L-inc (Left-leaning lifted increase) - Insert LH needle tip into st below last st on RH needle and knit it (without twisting it).

TENSION

22 sts by 28 rows over Chevron patt on 4mm needles to 10cm

GETTING STARTED

STITCH PATTERN

Chevron Pattern (multiple of 12 sts)

Row 1: RS - *K1, L-inc, k3, k2tog, ssk, k3, R-inc, k1; rep from * to end.

Row 2: WS - Purl.

Rep Rows 1-2 for pattern.

Back

WORKING PATTERN BACK

Cast on 122 (146, 1 70) sts. Do not join; work back and forth in rows. Gtst 7 rows.

Next Row: WS - Purl.

Next Row: RS - set up patts - K1, place marker (pm), work Chart patt over next 1 2 sts, pm, work Chevron patt to last st, si 1 with yarn in back.

Next Row: WS - Purl to last st, si 1 with yarn in front.

Keep cont of patts as est, slipping edge st at end of every row. Work even until piece measures approx 99 (109, 1 19.5) cm long, end with a RS row.

Gtst 7 rows.

Cast off all sts.

MAKING UP

Block piece to measurements.

Sew arm seams as indicated in schematic, so that lace patt goes around neck edge.

EDGING

Mark centre back neck.

With RS facing and beg at Right arm seam, pick up and ะบ 72 (83, 94) sts up side edge of piece to centre Back neck, 72 (83, 94) sts down side edge to Left arm seam, and 38 (50, 62) sts along lower back edge. 182 (21 6, 250) sts. Pm and join in a rnd.

Next Round: *K1, p1; rep from * to end.

Rep last round until edging measures 2.5cm. Cast off all sts loosely in patt.
